The following information is provided to those organizations serving populations needing prescription assistance:
Rx Help, a community outreach program of Northside Christian Church in New Albany to assist individuals who need assistance in applying for reduced prescription costs, will be moving from their former location at Evangel North Church into their new building in February, 2009.  Due to delays in remodeling their new site, continued services are being provided via telephone and email of their Volunteer, Janet Sutter.  Janet’s email address is jsutter@insightbb.com, and her telephone number is 812.282.4966.  These services are available to Clark, Floyd and Harrison County residents.

Those of you who heard Janet share information about these services at the Human Service Association of Southern Indiana meeting several months ago are aware of the critical need for this free assistance for those uninsured individuals unable to afford prescription costs. She is a dedicated volunteer, and we are pleased to learn the program is being sustained during this relocation period.

Grant Opportunity to Support Military Families
The American Red Cross (NHQ) has received a federal grant from the Department of Defense for the purpose of expanding Red Cross services in support of military families and veterans. In conjunction with this DoD program, participating Red Cross chapters will review the level of service currently offered in their community, consider strategies to improve those services, and seek community support to address those areas where increased capacity is needed. The Clark County Chapter will be applying for $20,000 from this NHQ grant to enhance the chapter’s current Service to Armed Forces Program, and to develop new programs and services for military families in our community. New volunteers will also be recruited to help implement these enhanced services. The community is encouraged to participate in this process. An information-gathering meeting will be held Friday, August 8, 11:30-1:00, at the Clark County Red Cross, 1805 E. 8th St., Jeffersonville. For more information about this grant opportunity, contact Phyllis Wilkins at 283-8416. Pre-registration is suggested. Light lunch will be provided.
